Pinned questions
The table-naming questions that come up in every code review, answered on index cards.
Plural or singular?
Plural snake_case (users, order_items) is the most common and the ORM default. Singular reads nicely in raw SQL. Pick one; never mix.
Prefix with tbl_?
Usually noise. The table context is already known, so users beats tbl_users. Reach for a schema name instead.
How do join tables work?
Alphabetical pairs: categories_products (plural style) or role_user (pivot style). The generator's join mode does this for you.
Reserved words?
Never order, user, table, group or select. They demand quoting forever. Check your engine's list.
What about columns?
Singular snake_case: first_name, created_at. PK is id; FKs are singular_table_id like user_id.
Is pluralization perfect?
It handles common rules and irregulars (person→people), but review edge cases before committing to a real schema.
Can I use names commercially?
Yes — they are ordinary English nouns in conventional patterns. Just confirm no collision with your existing schema.
